Dr. Ken Reed, M.D.

Inventor of the Reed Procedure

Dr. Kenneth Reed, M.D. earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed residency programs in internal medicine and anesthesiology, achieving board certification in three specialties – internal medicine, anesthesiology, and pain management.

Since 1988, Dr. Kenneth Reed has served on the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas’s medical staff and headed its Pain Management Program. Dr. Reed first began applying neurostimulation for intractable migraines in 1992, and in 2006 pioneered the Reed Procedure℠ for migraines and other innovative neurostimulation techniques for treating various types of severe, intractable headaches – techniques now used worldwide.

Dr. Reed continues to conduct research, publish papers, and present on pain management topics and the use of implantable neurostimulation devices for pain control. The Reed Procedure℠ received recognition in 2009 from the International Headache Society for pioneering innovation in migraine treatment. Research by Dr. Reed and Dr. Will earned the prestigious Cephalalgia Award from the editors of Cephalalgia, the medical journal of the International Headache Society.

Moreover, Dr. Reed is a respected educator who trains other physicians in specialized techniques of implantable neurostimulation. He is also a founding member of the Texas Pain Society.

Dr. Kelly Will, M.D.

Dr. Kelly Will earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Austin College in 1980 and his doctorate of medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1984. He completed a general surgery internship at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas, followed by his anesthesia and pain management residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, where he served as chief resident for two years.

Board-certified in anesthesiology and pain management, Dr. Kelly Will has been in private practice since 1989, providing innovative treatments tailored to each patient. His treatments utilize a combination of various injection therapies, including epidural steroid injections (selective root blocks) and advanced implantable spinal cord neurostimulation techniques.

Dr. Will is a member of several medical associations, including the Texas Medical Association, the International Association for the Study of Pain, the American Pain Society, and the International Headache Society. Research by Dr. Will and Dr. Reed received the prestigious Cephalalgia Award from the editors of Cephalalgia, the medical journal of the International Headache Society.

These include a wide range of injection therapies and advanced implantable spinal cord neurostimulation techniques, including the Reed Procedure℠, which Dr. Will performs at Texas Surgical Hospital in Plano, TX, and Texas Partners Center in Denton, TX.

Dr. Sukdeb Datta, M.D.

Dr. Sukdeb Datta completed his anesthesiology training and pain medicine fellowship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In addition, he served as the director of the interventional pain management program and as an associate professor in the department of anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Dr. Datta is board-certified in anesthesiology and interventional pain management.

Dr. Sukdeb Datta is a recognized national leader in formulating guidelines for interventional pain management, and he serves on the editorial boards of several prominent medical journals. In addition, he is currently listed by Becker’s ASC Review as one of the 150 Pain Management Physicians to Know in 2012. He currently serves on the research committee and as secretary for the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Dr. Datta’s clinical and research interests focus on developing innovative solutions to complex chronic pain. He is committed to advancing the field by integrating the best clinical research with evidence-based clinical practice.

As a partner physician of US Migraine, Dr. Datta brings his expertise in new treatments for neuropathic pain, including implanted neurostimulation.

He operates at the Saddle Brook Surgicenter in Saddle Brook, NJ, where he exclusively performs the trial procedure. All permanent procedures are performed by Dr. Kelly Will at either Texas Surgical Hospital in Plano, TX.
